Entebbe and Herzl
Depicted on Medal

NEW YORK — The 90
minutes at Entebbe that
electrified the world on
July 4, 1976, have been
memorialized in the
medal of deliverance, an-
nounced by the Judaic
Heritage society. The
medal also honors
Theodor Herzl.
Abram Belskie, an
academician of the Na-
tional Academy of Design
and Fellow of the Na-
tional Sculpture Society,
sculpted the medal. The
obverse of the medal
shows a kindled menora
held aloft by two Lions of
Judah. The flames of the
menora lead into the He-
brew lettering, Yisrael.

Flanking the Lions, of
Judah is the quotation,
"Surely He shall deliver
thee," Psalm 91, and the
legend; "Entebbe Rescue
—July 4,1976." Below the
base of the menora is a
fruit-laden cornucopia.
The reverse of the medal
portrays Theodor Herzl,
arms akimbo, with the
flag of Israel on his right
and his most famous
exhortation, "If you will
it, it is no dream!".

Herbert Drabant, 61,
was accused of participat-
ing in the execution of
some 4,000 people, includ-
ing many JeWs and Rus-
sians, during World War
II. The court was told
that he was a member of
the infamous SS Special
Patrol 12 whose task it
was to root out and ex-
terminate Jews, Com-

that "the most important
fact is that after nine years
of occupation, support for
Israel is still 36 percent

7 percent." Arab support
was highest — 10 percent
— under the pressure of
the oil crisis in November,
1973.
Other findings were
that men were more pro-
Israel than women and
that a pro-Israel feeling
was more common among
persons over 40 years of

.

age than younger people;
a trend towards in-
creased sympathy with
the Arabs was discerned
as education advanced,
but among the higher so-
cial groups sympathies
were shifting in Israel's
favor at the Arabs' ex-
pense in political terms;
and liberals and conser-
vatives tended to be most
sympathetic to the
Jewish state but labor
supporters were not far
