of the Brandeis University
and a score of other move-
ments.

Purchasing Agent

Dr. Herman Slatis,
Zoology Professor

George J. • Blonder, a pur-
chasing agent for the J. L.
Hudson Co. for the past 19
years, died July 24 at age 53.
A native Detroiter, Mr.
Blonder was a member of
the American Jewish Com-
mittee and was cited by that
organization in 1972 "for
outstanding leadership." He
also was a member of Tem-
ple Emanu-El. Mr. Blonder
resided at 22121 Gardner,
Oak Park.
He leaves his wife, Irma;
two sons, David and Brian; a
daughter, Deborah; a
brother, Jack Epton of Los
Angeles, Calif.; and four sis-
ters, Mrs. Sally Elkowitz,
Mrs. Joe (Lillian) Levin of
Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs.
Charles (Bookie) Linton of
Los Angeles and Mrs. Harry
(Minnie) Linton.

Dr. Herman M. Slatis,
professor of zoology at
Michigan State University,
died July 23. He resided at
144 Lexington, East Lan-
sing.
He is survived by his wife,
Alisa; two sons, Evan and
Joel; and a daughter, Ruth.

Mrs. Sulzberger,
Writer's Wife Dies

NEW YORK — Marina
Sulzberger, the wife of C. L.
Sulzberger, the foreign af-
fairs columnist of The New
York Times, died in Paris
July 24 at age 57.
Mrs. Sulzberger was an
accomplished linguist and
was renowned as a racon-
teur and letter writer.

NEW YORK (JTA) —
Meyer B. Cohen, father of
Dr. Gerson D. Cohen, chan-
cellor of The Jewish Theo-
logical Seminary of Amer-
ica, died July 20 in Israel at
age 87.
Mr. Cohen was born in
Russia in 1890, and came to
the United States in 1906.
He was a pioneer in the
movement to revive Hebrew
as a living tongue, and it
was the language spoken in
his home.
In his business life, Mr.
Cohen was an agent for the
Prudential Insurance Co.,
retiring in 1959. In 1960, he
moved to Israel, where he
spent his last years.

Mildred. Auslander

Mildred Auslander, a
member of local Jewish or-
ganizations, died July 29 at
age 62.
Born in Endicott, N.Y.,
Mrs. Auslander lived 50
years in Detroit. She was a
member of Temple Israel,
Hadassah, Detroit Chapter
of Bnai Brith Women and
Tam O'Shanter Country
Club: She resided at 1872
Chipping Way,• Bloomfield
Hills.
She leaves her husband,
Irving; a son, Robert; a

Julius Green, Frigid Foods
Co-Founder, Dies in Florida

Julius Green, for many
years a prominent Detroit
community activist, who
was co-founder of Frigid
Foods Corp. here, died in
Hollywood, Fla., July 21, at
age 87. Burial was in Tem-
ple Sinai Cemetery in Holly-
wood.
Mr. Green, who retired in
1952 and settled in Florida,
is survived by his wife,
Dora; a son, Dr. Martin
Green; a daughter, Mrs.
