Number of Women Rabbis Increases PHILADELPHIA ( JTA) — The resistance of congre- gations to engaging women rabbis apparently has failed to discourage women from seeking ordination, if the scheduled enrollment for the Reconstructionist Rab- binical College here next fall is any indication. Rabbi Frederic Kazan, dean of the college, said that eight members of the 16-member entering class for the 1976-77 year are women. Noting that they will be- come rabbis in 1981, Rabbi Kazan predicted that by the 1980s, women will be ac- cepted for pulpits. The cur- rent record shows three have become Reconstruc- tionist rabbis, two in the class of 11 ordained last month, and one last year. Two of the new women rabbis — Rebecca Alpert of Brooklyn and Eileen Schneider of Boston — do not plan to seek rabbinical careers. THE GOLD PLACE is the consistent place for .
