Jewish Retarded was enter-
tained with dance and gym-
nastics performed by stu-
dents of the F.A.R.
Conservatory of the Per-
forming Arts at their meet-
ing June 10 at the Jewish
Community Center's 10
Mile Branch.
The students of the
F.A.R. Conservatory at the
First Presbyterian Church
in Birmingham are men-
tally handicapped. Murrey
Morrow, director of the
F.A.R. Conservatory, said
the program may be the
only one of its kind operat-
ing in the country.
The conservatory offers
classes in dance, drama,
music and gymnastics and
tumbling 4-8 p.m., Monday
through Friday. It is sup-
ported through private don-
ations and tuition.
During the winter the
conservatory also offers
ice skating classes and
programs on Sundays at a
local ice rink.
The conservatory tries to
instill a feeling of pride and
accomplishment within the
students and help them gain
a sense of positive self-im-
age.
