THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Best Foods Prints Cook Book Taits Celebrate 50th Mr. and Mrs. Murray (Gertrude) Tait of Stratford Ave. will be honored by their children Saturday at the Advance Nosherie on the occasion of their 50th wed- ding anniversary. ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — Best Foods, a divi- sion of CPC International Inc. has published a new 96-page book called 'Beyond Chicken Soup" with recipes for traditional Jewish foods, baked goods, salads, casser- oles and desserts. Mr. Tait has received the Bnai Brith "Man of the Year" award, "Happiness Award" from the city of De- troit and was president of the UAW Northwest Citi- zens Center, president of Downtown-Fox Lodge of Bnai Brith. The Taits were married in Detroit at the United He- brew School Synagogue at Philadelphia and Byron Ayes. They have five chil- dren and 14 grandchildren. Mr. Tait retired from Gold Star Products in 1967. He has since been'ac- tive in the senior citizen program at the UAW Northwest Center and the Jewish Community Cen- ter. Serve it either for dessert or as a snack. Remember that the non-dairy whipped top- ping is not pareve, unless specifically marked. 6 oz. chocolate chips (use pure chocolate, not chocolate fla- vored 1/4 cup light corn syrup 1 /4 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp. lemon juice 1 /4 cup water 1 egg white 1 tsp vanilla 1 9-oz. container non-dairy whipped topping 1 tsp. rum extract 1 9-inch graham cracker crust chopped walnuts Melt chocolate chips, corn syrup and 1/4 cup water slowly to make a sauce. Stir and let cool, then set aside. In an- other bowl beat sugar, lemon juice, 1/4 cup water, egg white and vanilla at high speed for five minutes. Add whipped topping and beat until fairly stiff. Fold '/2 cup of cooled chocolate sauce into the whipped mixture. Put one- half of the chocolate-whipped cream mixture into the crust. Add 1 teaspoon of rum flavor to the remaining cooled choco- late sauce. Pour one-half of this chocolate rum sauce mix- ture on top of the chocolate- whipped cream mixture, then top with more chocolate- whipped cream mixture and then the remaining cooled chocolate-rum sauce. Top with chopped walnuts. Freeze until firm, then wrap it well. The four were arrested and sentenced last Septem- ber before they could carry out their plan. The four men were re- leased upon completion of two-thirds of their sent- ences and put aboard a Syr- ian airlines plane for Da- mascus.
