Katzir Visits Britain LONDON (JTA) — Prime Minister James Callaghan greeted President Ephraim Katzir Monday and ex- pressed warm friendship and admiration for the state of Israel and the hope that it would soon attain peace and security. Callaghan was host at a luncheon for the Israeli President and Mrs. Katzir at 10 Downing St. Speaking on a political level, Callaghan voiced Bri- tish support for American peace-seeking efforts in the Middle East and reaffirmed his government's readiness to assist in such efforts if the parties agreed. Mon- day's meeting with Cal- laghan was the second ma- jor event of President Katzir's week-long private visit to Britain. He and Mrs. Katzir lunched with Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Cas- tle. Others who attended reported that the Queen showed herself to be well- informed and deeply inter- ested in Israel. They said a lively and friendly conver- sation was conducted be- tween the two heads of state which included dis- cussion of the kibbutz movement and the consti- tutional similarities be- tween the British Monar- chy and the office of ,President in Israel. Tomorrow, President Katzir will be one of four Is- raeli scientists to partici- pate in a symposium of the Royal Society marking the 70th birthday of British Nobel Laureate Sir Ernest Chain. The project, undertaken by the Jewish National Fund to be a "living testa- ment to the esteem in which Israel holds the United States," was conceived by JNF leaders in the U.S. It will be up to them to raise the $6 million needed to complete it. Bulldozers have already cleared a patch of land in the center of the park area where the ceremony will be held. It will be highlighted by the planting of the first three trees — one by Presi- dent Ephraim Katzir, one by a special emissary of President Ford and another by a youngster to be se- lected from the nearby vil- lage of Nes Harim.
