They are adding another boxcar and connect- ing piece to accommodate 60 more people. THE FIRST TIME we got off the Southfield Free- way onto the Michigan Ave. interchange and beheld the impressive Hyatt Regency Dearborn with its crescent- shaped exterior of reflective bronze glass we were awed, virtually thrilled at what the magic of the creative mind and the skills of man's hands and muscle can do. The interior is even more spectacular in the hotel's huge 13-story atrium that is a feast for the eyes at any angle. Plant lovers are amazed at the more than 650 live plants placed on the guest- room level railings that hang into the atrium. The five glass-capsule elevators provide an ever-changing view of the activities as they move at a rate of 500 feet per minute between the lob- by and rooftop restaurant. The atmosphere is simply stunning . . . We enjoyeI the hotel's gourmet restaurant, "La Rotisserie", which spe- cializes in prime rib, roast duckling and a host of Or- iental dishes. The antique copper rotisserie along one wall provides the motif and elegant atmosphere for dining. We have returned four or five times at Hyatt Regency Sunday lunch at Kafay's Place, where we can look out at the elevators that go up and down like yo-yos . . . The meals are bounti- ful in a garden atmosphere. Our guide pointed to the bubble elevator that took us up to "The Rotunda". It's two-tiered turntable makes a complete circle every hour which gives a stunning 360-degree view of Dearborn and metro-Detroit. This rooftop restaurant and lounge is posh and an excit- ing place to take an out-of- town guest for a meal. THE 99c EARLY morn- ing breakfast specials at various delis and some res- taurants are making egg- eaters out of most every- body . . . In the face of ris- ing prices, how do they do it? CARL AND ESTHER HOROWITZ were out buy- ing a bottle of champagne to toast the new home of their children, Barry and Cindy Gonti along with little Mich- elle and one on the way. - ACCORDING TO John Manning, manager at Wyn Schuler's on W. Maple, all the food is not brought in from the central commis- sary in Marshall, Mich.. . . John says most of the fish and meat is freshly bought here and not frozen . . . The hamburger is ground in Marshall. RIKSHAW INN on W. Maple in the Orchard Mall, is becoming one of the few true continental restaurants in Michigan . . . Every time David Lum goes to an ea- tery, he comes back and improvises a new dish . . . Italian, French, etc . . . The way he's going, Dave, who is a gourmet food lover him- self, will have Oriental dishes in the background and Continental fare in number one position . Name Rikshaw is all Orien- tal, but the food only in- cludes Oriental cuisine . . . Continental is fast catching up. OVERHEARD . . . at Dominico's, "A discotheque girl may not understand politics, but she sure can put a motion before the house." . . . at Lobster House, "A bachelor is a man with no ties except those that need pressing." . . . at Country Inn,- "My wife is so lazy, she's the only one I know who washes dishes in bed." . : . at Carl's Chop House, "I fin- ally found a way to get rid of dishpan hands — I let my husband do the dishes."
