Reform Community to Salute Mrs. Herman, Bicentennial Friends of Mrs. John R. Herman and supporters of the Reform Jewish commu- nity will gather at 6:30 p.m., Sunday at Temple Israel for a "Spirit of '76 Salute." According to Lucille Miller, chairperson of the program, the salute will pay tribute to Mrs. Herman on her 76th birthday, celebrate the Bicentennial of Ameri- can independence, and mark the 100th anniversary of the Hebrew Union College-Jew- ish Institute of Religion. The dinner-dance is sponsored by the Metropoli- tan Detroit Federation of Reform Synagogues, as a benefit for the Reform Jew- ish Appeal. The RJA is the fund-raising agency which supports the HUC-JIR and the Union of American He- bre-w Congregations.
