THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

Husband, Wife
Are Rabbi, Cantor

NEW YORK — Mrs.
Mimi Frishman of Monsey,
N.Y., was invested as a can-
tor and received the degree
of Bachelor of Sacred Music
at commencement exercises
of Hebrew Union College-
Jewish Institute of Reli-
gion last week at Temple
Emanu-El in New York.
Her husband is Rabbi
Louis Frishman of Temple
Beth El of Spring Valley,
N.Y. The Frishmans will be-
come the first official hus-
band-wife rabbi-cantor cou-
ple.
In addition to investing
Mrs. Frishman, Hebrew
Union College conferred the
honorary degree of Doctor
of Divinity upon Rabbi
Frishman, who has occupied
the pulpit at Temple Beth El
since 1951.
Immediately upon inves-
titure, Mrs. Frishman will
become the cantor of Tem-
ple Israel of Northern
Westchester in Tarry-
town, where she has been
student cantor for the past
few years.
Rabbi Frishman and Can-
tor Frishman will officiate
at the marriage of their
daughter, Judith on June 12.

He dropped this summer
routine for European,
world and USA tours with
Abe Saperstein's Harlem
Globetrotters (1950 to
1965).
This resulted in a
book 'Go Man Go' co-au-
thored with Edgar Wil-
liams of the Philadelphia
Inquirer. — Zink's distinc-
tive style has attracted
many carbon copies.
He is the original announ-
cer for the Liberty Bowl
games, — having been a
five-year World War II vet-
eran, Zink has remembered
the less fortunate hospital-
ized and ambulatory veter-
ans with amateur boxing
shows; singing and dancing
entertainments plus admis-
sions to 76ers — Eagles —
TV boxing events.
"He handles the Maurice
Stokes basketball — The
Naismith Basketball Hall of
Fame — and MS games
annually, plus other chari-
table events, having received
letters marked "Voice of
Philadelphia sports" and
"Zinc, Philadelphia," even
our post office is sware of
Dave Zinkoff — the great
booster of Philadelphia and
Philadelphia sports events."
