Council Presents Annual Youth Awards
The Jewish Community
Council's annual youth
awards were presented at
the Council's delegate as-
sembly.
The Walter E. Klein
Youth Award trophy, hon-
oring the Council's retired
executive director, was pre-
sented to the Young Peo-
ples' Society of Temple Beth
El. During the year, its
members participated as
volunteers in the F.A.R.
Conservatory of the Per-

fine arts to retarded chil-
.dren. The group also helped
to raise funds for construc-
tion of a kibutz, and created
two summer camp scholar-
ships in New York and a
Mitzva Corps scholarship in
Detroit.
A Jewish Community
Council Youth Award was
presented • to Cong. Bnai
Moshe Kadimah United
Synagogue Youth, whose
members during the year
took part in a Holocaust
program which simulated
the experiences and re-
counted the history of the
condition that European
Jewry suffered during
World War II.
Also receiving a Jewish
Community Council Youth
Award was General Maur-
ice Rose AZA. During the
season, its members par-
ticipated in a weekend
study conference on Soviet
Jewry, conducted a model
seder, raised funds during
a membership drive for the
BBYO Great Lakes Coun-
cil, and held a Jewish Na-
tional Fund Tree sale that
helped to enroll all AZA
members in the project.
Mrs. Bertha Brotman
chaired Youth Award Com-
mittee, which included Mrs.
Howard B. Appelman, Jack
J. Bodzin, Jeanne Korsh and
