Israel Editor Says U.S. Tries
to Impose Mideast Settlement
NEW YORK (JTA) — Ari
Rath, editor of the Jerusa-
lem Post, asserted that
"Washington is moving
slowly and clearly toward
an imposed settlement in
the Middle East."
But Rath, at the end of a
three-week visit in the U.S.
during which he met with
American officials, will take'
longer to implement in case
a Democratic President is
elected.
Rath, who addressed a
press conference at the
United Jewish Appeal head-
quarters, also charged
Washington with a "deli-
berate attempt to drive a
wedge between Israel and
American Jewry."
He said that Israelis are

being privately warned by
American officials saying,
"Israelis, you better be care-

Turkey-Israel
Relations Stable
LONDON (JTA) — Tun-
key is not likely to break
diplomatic relations with
Israel despite a call for such
action by the Islamic For-
eign Ministers Conference „
in Istanbul.
Informed Middle East
sources point out that Israel
and Turkey enjoy full diplo-
matic relations. Missions in
each country are headed by
ministers, and the Israeli
envoy in Ankara enjoys the
personal rank of ambassa-
dor.
While eager to gather
Third World and Arab sup-
