Rubenstein its "man of the year" for 1976. Ruben- stein will be officially hon- ored at the lodge's annual dinner-dance to be held June 6 at the County Squire. A graduate of the Univer- sity of Michigan and its law schools, Rubenstein was an adviser to the Flint AZA Chapter and was elected president of Flint Lodge in Flora Benson, a longtime Flint resident, died May 15 at age 83. Born in Russia, Mrs. Ben- son lived 55 years in Flint prior to moving to Anaheim, Calif., where she was living at the time of her death. She was a charter member of Hadassah and Cong. Beth Israel Sisterhood. She leaves two sons, Ar- thur of Saratoga, Calif., and _ Conrad of Midland; a daughter, Barbara Rogers of Anaheim; three brothers, Samuel and Davis, both of California and Louis of New York; two sisters, Mrs. Her- man Dickstein and Mrs. Irv- ing Steinman, both of Farmington Hills; and eight grandchildren. Flint Obituaries Flora Benson, 83 OLEISMOSILES Flint Area News Rubenstein was an offi- cer of the Flint Jewish Community Council for 11 years and was its presi- dent from 1961 to 1964. During his tenure, the Council entered into an agreement for the care of its aged members at a De- troit Jewish home for the aged, organized the Senior Citizens Friendship Group and established a hospital- ity committee. He was the general chairman of the local United Jewish Ap- peal in 1968. He also had held civic po- sitions and is active in ef- forts for the American Red Cross, Marian Hall, St. Jo- seph Hospital and Musical Performing Arts Associa- tion. He is a member of Genesee County Bar Asso- ciation, State Bar of Michi- gan, American Bar Associa- tion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Fraternal Order of Elks, the Atlas Valley Country Club, the Univer- sity Club, Beth Israel, Bnai Brith and Temple Beth El. The large turnout was described by Dr. Jack Stan- zler, chairman of the event which was sponsored by the Jewish Community Council of Flint, as "a demonstra- tion of solidarity with the state of Israel." Addressing the meeting, Rep. Donald Riegle Jr. (D.- Mich.) said that the rela- tionship between Israel and America is "undying" and that "support for Israel will always be forthcoming from this country." Robert Leonard, vice president of the 7,- 000-member National Dis- trict Attorneys Association, said that a delegation of the association which just re- turned from Israel has is- sued a call of support for the Jewish state.
