Levinthal, a former judge in Philadelphia and a former chairman of the board of governors of the Hebrew University died Sunday at age 84. A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Levinthal was Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in that city from 1937-59, after which he returned to private practice. He was a special adviser on Jewish affairs to Gen. Lucius Clay and the European command from 1947 to 1948. He re- ceived his law degree from the University of Pennsyl- vania. Levinthal also was president of the Zionist Organization of- America and a member of the publications commit- tee of the Jewish Publica- tion Society of America.
