JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
Israel now ranks number
one as the most efficient
agricultural nation in the
world.
Despite the investment of
enormous energies and huge
capital, the world has not
been able to expand agricul-
tural production by more
than 1.7 percent annually.
Israel, by contrast, has
shown an annual growth in
agricultural production of
around seven percent. Israel
produces 70 percent of all its
food needs.

Kibutz Volunteers

JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
Some 30,000 volunteers
from all parts of the world,
including a substantial
number of non-Jews, are
expected to come to Israel
this year to work on kibut-
zim, according to the Execu-
tive of the World Zionist Or-
ganization. In the first
quarter of 1976 more than
75 percent of the volunteers
were non-Jews. Last year
the total number of volun-
teers was 24,000.
