THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS
The Committee For A
MEMORIAL CENTER
is privileged to announce
The purchase of a tract of land on N.W. corner of 13 Mile and Farming-
ton Rd., Farmington Hills, Michigan, for the purpose of constructing a
MEMORIAL CENTER
in memory of the six million Jews and Jewish communities murdered
and destroyed by Nazi Germany during World War
This Memorial Center will include:
1. A prominent and permanent display of all available visual material pertaining to the
Holocaust.
2. Permanent visible inscription on the walls of the Memorial Center of information
concerning Jewish communities destroyed by the Nazis, dates of their liquidations,
population and other relevant available data.
3. A pictorial permanent display of the mass murder concentration camps and ghettos
built and used by Nazi Germany for the "final solution" of the Jewish existence in
Europe.
This Memorial Center will serve as a vivid lasting
factual reminder to our young and old of.
A. What our people went through in this most tragic experience in our history and the
most barbaric manifastation of human cruelty.
B. How a whole society without Democratic checks and balances could and did turn
into a bestial society.
C. How much rich dynamic creative Jewish culture and learning were destroyed by
Nazi Germany.
To be visibly reminded within the framework of a permanent institution of what
happened to our people when we were helpless will enhance our understanding and
reinforce our commitment to our Jewish home in Israel and will give us the determination
to preserve and promote the vitality and strength of organized Jewish life everywhere.
We appeal to each and everyone in the Jewish Community to give us a helping
hand in order to speedily facilitate this historic
MEMORIAL CENTER
•
History would never forgive us for relinquishing this duty of ours. History, on the other hand, will
never forget us for preserving in a tangable institutional manner the memory and lessons of the
Holocaust.
