Born in Russia, Dr. Sil- varman lived 70 years in De- troit. He was the founder of North Detroit General Hos- pital in the early 1940s. After retiring in 1974 from his medical practice, Dr. Sil- varman returned to the hos- pital as its coordinator. He was a member of Perfection Lodge of the Masons and the Phi Lambda Kappa Medical Fraternity, Wayne County and Michigan State Medical Societies and Cong. Shaarey Zedek. During World War II, Dr. Silvarman earned a com- mendation from the Presi- dent "for his service to the Selective Service Board as a medical adviser." Edith Wigder, 65 Edith Wigder, a retired teacher who was active in efforts for the retarded, died April 14 at age 65. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Wigder was a former mem- ber of the board of the De- troit Association for Re- tarded Children, a member of the board of the Center for Community Living for the Retarded Citizens of Wayne County and a board member of the Michigan As- sociation for Emotionally Disturbed Citizens.
