URI GELLER, Israeli
psychic who has amazed
people the world over with
his unbelievable powers, is
living proof that the mind is
ever so powerful.
Born in Israel in 1946, Uri
first became aware of his
powers when he was 7-years
old . . . In school he noticed
that the hands of his wris-
twatch moved when he
"wished" them to . . . He
told no one about it except
his parents, but they didn't
take it seriously . . . From
the age of 11 to 17, Uri lived
with his parents in Cyprus,
then returned to Israel
where he was a paratrooper
in the Israeli army . . . In
mid-1970 he appeared be-
fore small audiences to
show his powers of telepa-
thy and psychokinesis . . .
By the end of 1971 he had
become very well known and
was seen by almost every-
one in Israel.
Uri had never been tested
by any scientist until Au-
gust, 1971, when he was
approahced by Dr. Andrija
Puharich, an American
physician with 25 years of
psychic research experience
. . . Dr. Puharich, who is,
listed in "Who's Who in the
East", "Leaders in Ameri-
can Science", "American
Men of Medicine", etc., con-
ducted the first tests with
Uri . . . He wound up writ-
ing a book, "URI: A Journal
of the Mystery of Uri
Geller", published by Dou-
bleday & Co. in 1974.
Uri left Israel in April of
1972 to go to Europe . .
where he immediately at-
tracted wide attention . . .
In Munich, Germany; with
journalists and photogra-
phers as witnesses, Uri
stopped a cable car in mid-
air, and an escalator_ in a
downtown department store
. . . In August, Uri was in-
vited to America by Dr.
Puharich and other leading
scientists, including Capt.
Edgar D. Mitchell, the for-
mer astronaut who was the
sixth man on the moon . . .
Uri also met Dr. Wernher
von Braun, "Father of the
Space Age", and "repaired"
his portable electronic cal-
culator.
Dr. Puharich interested
Uri in being tested at the
prestigious Stanford Re-
search Institute of Menlo
Park, California . . . In
November, 1972, Uri under-
went intensive,. controlled
experiments at SRI . . . Dr.
Harold Puthoff and Russell
Targ, the SRI scientists, re-
ported on their findings at
Columbia University's
Physics Colloquium, and
concluded that "further in-
vestigation is clearly war-
ranted".
You may have seen Uri
on one of his many TV
appearances . . . Johnny
Carson, Mery Griffin,
Mike Wallace Sixty Min-
utes, etc. . . . During the
telecasts, hundreds and
hundreds of TV viewers
reported that keys, spoons
and other metal objects in
their homes bent, and
watches and clocks which
had not worked for months
and years started to run
again.

Sol Lewis met Uri during
a lecture tour . . . and was
so impressed he is bringing
him to Detroit . . . 7:30 p.m.
May 4 . . . at the Fitzgerald
High School auditorium,
23200 Ryan Rd., three
blocks north of Nine Mile in
Warren.
Get your tickets for this
fantastic phenomenon from
Sol's Michigan Metaphysics
Society bookstore at 3455
Robina in Berkley . . . ei-
ther in person or by sending
for them . . . There's a lim-
ited number of ducats . . .
(P.S. Bring your old watch
with you.)
SHELLY VICKERS, one
of our town's better delica-
tesser4 waitresses, wrote on
the back of a napkin at the
Nosherie, "Get well, soon"
. . . and received a thank
you card from someone who
never met her . . . "Kind
lady. I don't know your
name. but our thanks to
you! Your kind message
written on a napkin you
packed in a carry-out was
most appreciated! My son,
flat on his back in Sinai
Hospital was certainly
cheered by your thoughtful-
ness! Again — thank you"
. . . Edythe Emery.

owner of the three-months-
old Mexican restaurant, El
Jardin on W. Seven Mile
Rd., two blocks west of Liv-
ernois . . . She is a house-
wife and excellent cook of
Mexican and Japanese
dishes . . . so authentic
home cooking should be a
key here.
THE ASSOCIATION

the Hyatt-Regency in Dear-
born:

satility, are at Ted's Old

cians and vocalists, both in-
