The 36 passengers and crew members thanked Israel for the hospitality extended them. The plane, which was on its way from Damascus to Riyadh was intercepted when it entered Israeli air- space near Rosh Hanikra on a course that would have taken it over Israel. The Saudi Arabian pilot obeyed instruction to land at Ben- Gurion. Twenty-five of the 31 pas- sengers were Saudi Arabian soldiers. There were three Americans aboard, em- ployes of Lockheed, who were training the Saudi crew in flying the C-130. The Saudis spent the night at an Israeli army base where an officer's club was turned into an impro- vised dormitory. The Ameri- cans were housed at the homes of American em- bassy personnel.
