JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Israel's Labor Party an-
nounced that it will estab-
lish a special committee to
deal with Israel's Arab com-
munity. The announcement
followed a meeting between
Premier Yitzhak Rabin and
two of the three minority
MKs affiliated with the La-
bor Alignment.
The MKs reportedly
voiced their objections to the
government's plans to ex-
propriate land in Galilee
and to the dismissal of Arab
workers who participated in
the March 30 Arab general
strike protesting the expro-
priations.
The meeting was viewed
as an attempt by the govern-
ment to strengthen and en-
courage the Arab and Druze
minorities loyal to the state
by listening to their griev-
ances. Although it was held
just one week after the
worst Arab riots in Israel's
history, the meeting was
scheduled long before the
March 30 disturbances, ac-
