Dayan Predicts
Elections in 1976

JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
Former Defense Minister
Moshe Dayan predicts that
new elections to the Knesset
will have to take place this
year.
At a closed meeting with
former fellow-members of
the "Rafi" faction, Dayan
disclosed that Premier Ra-
bin was told in Washington
what the U.S. expects in the
way of a settlement with re-
spect to the West Bank. But
the Israeli government can-
not proceed without honor-
ing its pledge that the elec-
torate will be asked to
decide on this matter.
Dayan also made it clear
that he would support the
party opposing withdrawal
from the administered Arab
territories.

The Maple-Drake Author-
ity was originally formed
five years ago as a special
planning body to help pre-
pare for and to determine
various uses of the site.
Now that the Center has
been constructed there, said
Citrin, the Authority will
take a new look at the re-
maining undeveloped parcel
to see how the site may best
be utilized for other local
agency purposes.
Members of the Author-
ity are Avern L. Cohn, Ben-
jamin H. Frank, Samuel
Frankel, and Richard Sloan.
Mandell L. Berman and
David Handelman are ex-
officio members.

Fifty Percent of
Histadrut Funds
Kept in the U.S.

TEL AVIV (ZINS) —
Only half of the funds
raised through the Histad-
rut campaign in America
reach Israel, according to
the internal report prepared
by the former treasurer of
the Histadrut, Yehoshua
Levi. The present treasurer,
Israel Kaiser, confirmed
that most of the monies
raised by the campaign are
not sent to Israel.
In an interview in Ha'-
aretz, Kaiser said that most
of the funds raised in the
United States are invested
in America for the purpose
of strengthening ties with
the labor unions in the U.S.
and Canada. The report by
Levi disclosed that of $10
million which were raised in
the United States in the
years 1970/71 through
1972/73, only $4.8 million
were transferred to Israel.
