LISTENING
POST
A MOST BEAUTIFUL
GESTURE by the wonder-
ful gals of City of Hope Can-
cer Fighters . . . who have
renamed their group City
of Hope Helen Rosenberg
Cancer Fighters . . . in
memory of their very de-
voted founder who recently
passed away . . . She
founded the group and was
its first president in 1952
. . . Helen certainly mer-
ited this honor . . . and it is
of great credit to the girls of
the organization who have
given her what she so richly
deserved.
ADELINE ROSEN-
ZWEIG went shopping one
evening last week and dis-
covered her wallet missing
. . . with more than just
grocery money inside . . .
She said goodbye to the
dough since there was no
identification in it . . .
After talking to hubby Ab-
ner, Adeline remembered
going to Frank's Nursery on
Coolidge and Nine Mile . . .
When she came in to in-
quire, Manager Chris Coseo,
indeed a very honest young
man, said he had it in the
safe . . . waiting for some-
one to come and claim it
. . . Frank's Nursery head
guys can be very proud of
their Oak Park store man-
ager.
ERRATA . . . Name of
Lou Block's new wife is
Sally, not Shirley.
DR. SANFORD RAUT-
BORT tells of the young
boy handing a report card to
his father and saying, "Look
this over and see if I can sue
for defamation of charac-
ter."
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
.. . by Lil Benkoff . . . "I
can just look at sugarless
gum and gain weight."
- SCOTT'S 'CORNER
. . . "While I was at the Oak
Park Library, a little boy,
paying a 10 cent fine for an
overdue book, looked the li-
brarian and asked, "Can you
make a living out of this?"
DISA 'N DATA . . .
Herman Osnos driving
along with a cigar in his
mouth, naturally, and hat
brim turned up . . . as cou-
ple of blue boys in squad
car watch the beardless
"hippy" with eyes glued
firmly ahead . . . If you
can't find a halla on Friday
nights, chances are they
might still have one for you
at Modern Bakery, on
Greenfield in Lincoln Cen-
ter . . . Saw a woman wear-
ing a hat that'll never go out
of style . . . it'll just look ri-
diculous year after year . . .
Elderly lady told Dave
Whitman of WXYZ-TV that
she thought the United Na-
tions was a good thing, "but
it's a pity they have so many
foreigners in it." . . . Watch
for gas attendants who for-
get to put the cap back on
your gas tank . . . Date of
the Detroit Businessmen's
Group, City of Hope, Instal-
lation Dinner-Dance, is May
