The Best of Everything

(Continued from Page 28)
CAN'T UNDERSTAND
what has happened to Joe
Muer's on Gratiot . . It's
not like the place we used to
go to with such anxiety . . .
For the_second time, we
were again disappointed
. . . After waiting the usual
35 minutes for our table
(this used to be one of the
very few places we'd wait.
Not again, for a while at
least), eight of us sat down
to six head-shaking meals
. . . Just can't understand it
. . . Our Boston clam chow-
der was cloudy and the
clams gritty . . . Could the
color have gotten that way
from being cold and re-
warmed when we sent it
back? . . . If so, what about
the clams? . . . The mari-
nated herring in sour cream
was good, but far from the
usual Joe Muer's portion
. ..We were in the mood
for whole perch saute and
had to leave most because of
it being too bony . . . Dr.
Harry Woll's smelts were
very soggy . . . and his
daughter Nancy got turned
off With canned fruit cock-
-tail . . Young.Nancy didn't
eat her scrod . . . Harry's
other daughter, Dr. Lauri
Woll, had steak and ,didn't
complain.
Joe Muer's at lunchtime,
we are told, is totally differ-
ent . . . Also, says another,
it's different if you get the
waiter -you want . . . When
an eatery has been a classic
dining spot .for so many
years, consistency should be
the byword whether lunch
or dinner . . . and a waiter
has nothing to do with how
the food is prepared.
Complacency has ruined
many restaurants . . . We
hope it isn't happening to
Joe Muer's.
EVER SEE A STAIN-
LESS steel dance floor?
. . . Thty have one at Hur-
ley's cocktail lounge in the
Northfield Hilton Inn on
Crooks Road at 1-75 . . .
adding glitter and excite-
ment to the dancing feet of
folks . . . Intimate booth
arrangements, soft lighting
and good-sized drinks add to
the new look that is Hur-
ley's.
Wicker Works at North-
field Hilton is the dining
spot . . . with greenery,
solid oak and wicker making
up the intimate and com-,
fortable decor.
PERFECT BLEND in
the Fidelity Bank Bldg. on
Northwestern and Ever-
green at 10 Mile, now has
square pizza every day from
5 to closing . .. One size
only, large ($3.75).
BOB SNYDER'S last
night at Bobbie's is Satur-
day . . . He and the group
will put on an after-hours
jam session about 2:30 a.m.
at the Bonfire on Eight Mile
Rd.
NOW THAT Cymbal Inn
has closed, new home of the
Detroit Hot Jazz Society
will be Presidential Inn at I-
75 and Northline in South-
gate . . . Next concert,
March 28, 3 to 7 p.m., will
feature "Mother's Boys" and
also celebrate D.H.J.S.'s
fifth anniversary . . . Head
honcho Jim Taylor has done
