The project, as outlined in the above sketches, has been proposed recently in a preliminary survey prepared by a panel of experts, commissioned by the Israel government and headed by Prof. Eckstein. Technion Forsees Profitable Uranium Production in Israel NEW YORK — Israel could produce 100 to 150 tons or uranium annually, enough to fuel four power stations, Professor Shimon Yiftah of the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the Technion told the Israel In- dustry and Commerce News recently. Professor Yiftah, who is also the President of the Is- rael Nuclear Sciences So- •iety, explained that every ton of phosphates from the Negev phosphate deposits contains 100 to 200 grams (one quarter to one-half pound) of uranium, which could be extracted as a by- product of phosphoric acid. Almogi to Keep Knesset Seat JERUSALEM (JTA) — Yosef Almogi, chairman of the World Zionist Organiza- tion and acting chairman of the Jewish Agency, said Sunday that he sees no rea- son to give up his Knesset seat. Commenting on a report that several Labor Party members have said that he should resign from the Knesset, Almogi noted that his predecessor as chairman of the WZO/Jewish Agency, the late Pinhas Sapir, did not resign his Knesset seat. But he said if there is a demand that he quit, "I will not stick to my chair in the Knesset." Almogi told reporters he has been "well received" in the Jewish Agency and the WZO despite his intentions to make changes in the Jew- ish Agency. The committee's first program will be a special "Jewish Survival" meeting 8:30 p.m. April 10 at the new Jewish Community Center.
