Shaarit Haplaytah, Histadrut Sponsor Program on Holocaust

Center to Begin Courses

The Jewish Community
Center has announced the
opening of several new
classes and programs for
persons of all ages.
A six-week class in con-
temporary Hasidic philoso-
phy will begin 7 p.m. Thurs-
day at the new Center.
Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg
- of Cong. Bais Chabad of
West Bloomfield will con-
duct the course.
The Center will offer a
course in drama for adults 7
p.m. Thursday at the new
Center. Local actor and
pr-4, icer Sam Pollak will be
Ti actor. The course will
continue for eight weeks.

A toy-making workshop
will be held 8 p.m. April 1 in
the new Center. Emphasis
will be on constructing toys
for the pre-school and ele-
mentary-age child. Advance
registration is required.
The Jewish Community
Center Nursery is planning
a sample session for parfnts
of pre-school children. For
reservations for the nursery
session, sports weekend and
toy-making workshop, call

Clarification

The statement which ap-
peared March 5 in The Jew-
ish News stated that Yesh-
iva University has never
sponsored a Halakhic Com-
mission.
The statement mentioned
an earlier reference to
Rabbi Charles H. Rosenz-
veig. Rabbi Rosenzveig did
serve on several committees
dealing in Halakhic prob-
lems while a student at the
university.

The Yad Vashem Holo-
caust Exhibit will be on dis-
play Monday through
March 26 at the Labor Zion-
ist Institute, sponsored by
Histadrut and Shaarit Hap-
laytah, the organization of
survivors of the Holocaust.
The presence of the exhibit
will highlight the week's
activities which focus on the
Holocaust.
The exhibit will operi 8
p.m. Monday.
At 8:30 p.m. Monday,
Charles C. Benham, na-
tional vice president and
regional director of the
Detroit Round Table of the
National Conference of
Christians and Jews, will
give the opening lecture of

the series. He will speak
on "Can We Learn From
the Holocaust — A Chris-
tian Viewpoint."
Prior to the Benham talk,
the Holocaust will be dis-
cussed by David Chaney,
president of the Central
States Joint Board, of the
Amalgamated Clothing
Workers of America; Wil-
liam Marshall, president of
the Michigan State AFL-
CIO; and Paul Silver, chair-
man of Histadrut Asso-
ciates.
A documentary film on
the history of the Warsaw
Ghetto will be shown 8:30
p.m. Tuesday at the Labor
Zionist Institute. Dr. John
