Meanwhile, windows at 10 bank branches in Brooklyn and Queens were smashed early Mon- day in an apparent protest against the banks' alleged compliance with the Arab boycott of Israel. A man called a news agency later and said that a group to which he belonged, Save Our Israel Land (SOIL) had committed the act be- cause the banks were "col- laborating with the Arabs." A spokesman for a group of SOIL members who pick- eted Chase Manhattan Sun- day denied the group had broken windows at the 10 banks earlier in the day but said they "applauded" the action. Romania Bows to Arab Pressure JERUSALEM (JTA) — Romania will cease using the Eilat-Ashkelon oil pipe- line to transport crude oil from the Persian Gulf en route to Romania. Pipeline officials con- firmed a report to this effect from Egypt. They said Rol mania was a large customer of the pipeline but with- drawal of its business would not be a knock-out blow. The officials conceded that the pipeline was not currently making a profit, but said it was due to the general recession in the oil transport industry which was hitting at the tanker trade too. Some consternation was expressed when the original report came from Egypt cit- ing Arab boycott officials there who said Romania's move was taken "to consoli- date relations with Arab states." Some Israeli offi- cials spoke sorrowfully of Romania "kowtowing to the boycott." Informed sources said that this was not, strictly speaking, the case. Romania simply decided to' buy oil from an Arab state cheaper than the oil it had been buy- ing until now from Iran. The Arab state, however, in- sisted that its oil should not be shipped through the Is- raeli pipeline but through the Suez Canal, the sources said, , . ENJOY AT BETH ABRAHAM-HILLEL SYNAGOGUE W.
