Guide Published
on Jewish Life in
Scandinavia Area
NEW YORK — "Jewish
Life in Scandinavia" — a
brief history and anatomy
of the Jewish communities
of Denmark, Norway,
Sweden and Finland, as well
as tourist guide to points of
special interest in those
countries — has just been
published through Scandi-
navian Airlines.
The illustrated, 16-page
brochure written by Gabriel
Levenson outlines the
350-year history of Jewish
community life in the
Nordic countries, with spe-
cial reference to what all
four countries did to defend
and preserve their Jew
populations during the 1.
Holocaust.
It tells how the first Jew-
ish settlers entered Den-
mark in 1622; why Finnish
Jews are called "Nico-
laievskis"; how a great Nor-
wegian poet who never knew
a Jew opened Norway to
Jewish immigration. -
Copies of the brochure
and information about Jew-
ish interest travel in Scandi-
navia are available from any
office of Scandinavian Air-
lines/SAS or from the Scan-
dinavian National Tourist
Office, 75 Rockefeller Plaza,
New York, N.Y. 10019.
