the beauties of the Jewish
culture to the attention of
the world."
The warning stated that
the movement, "a front or-
ganization" for Sun Myung
Moon's Unification Church,
is potentially dangerous
since it encourages a mas-
ter-slave relationship where
Moon is the only master.
Authors of the warning
stated that "we have had
personal experiences which
convince us that he is en-
gaged in personal aggran-
dizement and the accumula-
tion of political power,
rather than truly leading a
religious movement." (See
Jewish News, Feb. 27.)
The warning also stated
in part:

bers, have been met with
evasions, generalizations,
half-truths or lies. We
have seen at first hand, se-
rious exploitation of the
rank and file group mem-
bers selling flowers and
the like on the streets of
our cities, producing enor-
mous money for the move-
ment, but living at a be-
low-subsistance level,
jeopardizing their physical
well-being.
Although Moon and his
followers profess to aid the
people of the world, we
have seen no evidence of
the usual charitable as-
sistance or retraining
functions. We have seen
instead, the purchase of
palatial estates and spe-
cially-built limousines.

Surgeon to Speak
to LIT Students

Dr. Adrian Kantrowitz,
surgeon and chairman of
the department of surgery
at Sinai Hospital of Detroit
will address the Lawrence
Institute of Technology
student engineering honor
society 7:30 p.m. Thursday
in the science building audi-
torium of the institute.
Dr. Kantrowitz was one
of the world's first surgeons
to implant pacemakers and
transplant a human heart.
He pioneered work with the
heart-lung machine and is
chief developer of the tem-
porary balloon heart pump
and is researching the use of
a complete mechanical
heart.
Interested persons are
invited at no charge.

promotions and lecture
tours nationwide by Moon.
Meanwhile, a San Fran-
cisco rabbi had reported
that two members of the
group approached him
wanting to publicize the
new movement. However,
when asked to detail the
organization's structure,
earnings and other activi-
ties, the two evaded the
questions and lied about
persons whom they said of-
fered support for the move-
ment.
Upon investigation of the
group, the rabbi stated,
"There is no doubt in my
mind that this was a blatant
attempt by the Reverend
Moon's organization to infil-
trate the Jewish community
of San Francisco, and prob-
ably Los Angeles as well."
A list enclosed with the
warning showed that there
are more than 40 front or-
ganizations for Moon's
movement.

Milliken Proclaims
`Eye-Bank Week

I

This week was proclaimed
by Gov. William G. Milliken
as "Michigan Eye-Bank
Week." Mayors and other lo-
cal officials throughout the
state also are declaring local
observances.
This introduces March as
Michigan Eye-Bank Month,
focusing special attention
upon the successful corneal
transplant program that
has restored sight to
hundreds of blind people,
according to Dr. Andrew J.
Watson, of Midland, presi-
dent of the Michigan Eye-
Bank.
The purpose of the observ-
ance is to help inform the
public as to what an "eye-
bank" is and how it helps
blind and visually-impaired
people. The Michigan Eye-
Bank is a joint project of the
Lions Clubs of Michigan and
the medical centers of the
University of Michigan and
Wayne State University.
