New York Delegation Here for Kashrus Campaign

A delegation of young
Lubavitch Hassidim will
arrive-here on Sunday to
a
help implement
"Kashrus Month" in Mich-
igan.

The Lubavitchers will
drive one of the world-fa-
mous "Mitzva-tanks" to
Afternoon-schools, Day-
schools, public schools,
hospitals, nursing homes
and private houses to dis-
seminate information and
answer questions about
keeping a Kosher home.

The Michigan "Kashrus
Month" is part of a world-
wide response to the call
issued by the Lubavitcher
Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem
M. Schneersohn to inten-
sify Kashius-observance

in all Jewish homes. The
Rebbe stated in a recent
address that the main
thrust of his campaign
was to the Jewish woman,
who is the dominant influ-
encing factor in keeping a
Kosher home. It has been
shown that the nature of
man's personality is pro-
foundly influenced by his
diet, and to maintain a
clear, refined and sensitive
intelligence, stated Rabbi
Schneersohn, one should
avoid crass and debased
foods. Man, possessed of a
Neshama, a soul, is given
free choice between good
and evil; the failure of so
many of our people to
make the correct choice
nowadays is partially due
to the cessation of strict.

Kashrus observance. All
this, maintained the
Rebbe; is in the hands of
the woman to change.
Even if her husband is not
similarly inclined, she can
effect a change in Kashrus
observance in the home,
through a peaceful and
tactful approach. Even-
tually, her influence can
change her husband's
force of habit — even his
tastes and appetite — so
that he will not eat non-
kosher food when out of
the home!
A number of families in
the Detroit area have al-
ready availed themselves
of the offer by Lubavitch
to rebate half of the ex-
penses incurred by making
their kitchen Kosher.
