Americans in Israel Canvass for Reagan

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A
group of Americans resi-
dent in Israel have formed
an "Americans in Israel for
Reagan Committee" to sup-
port the Presidential aspira-
tions of former California
Governor Ronald Reagan,
who is seeking the Republi-
can nomination.
The claim of the group,
which says it will distribute
"thousands of pieces of cam-
paign literature in Israel
and the U.S.," is that the
conservative Reagan is the
best choice "for those
greatly concerned about the
security of Israel."

The group, based in Jeru-
salem, issued a statement
favoring Reagan because
"his awareness of the dan-
ger of the Soviet threat in
the Middle East and his
realization that the survival
of the democratic state of
Israel is vital to American
foreign policy indicate that
Reagan . . . could be ex-
pected to be a strong and
faithful ally of Israel."
Members of the group
plan to cast their absentee
ballots for Reagan and to
try to persuade other Amer-
icans living in Israel to do
likewise.

Grafton's "The American
Revolution" presents 411
black-and-white illustra-
tions by 19th Century art-
ists, covering many battle
scenes and epic events of
America's Revolutionary
War.

The editor notes in his
introduction that the his-
toric accuracy of the draw-

ings can not be authenti-
cated in most instances,
since they are done by
later period artists.
"However, doubts about
its accuracy should not
keep us from enjoying such
work, or understanding its
importance in the way our
images of the Revolution
have been shaped," writes
Grafton.
Copeland's coloring book
is informative as well as ar-
tistic, giving brief descrip-
tions of the clothing and im-
plements to be colored by
children. The large, but de-
tailed drawings and their
explanations make for en-
joyment and informative
reading for both children
and adults.
Both Dover volumes have
full-color covers.
