Appeal Issued

An appeal has been made
for blood donors on behalf
of Audrey Fishman, a mem-
ber of Cong. Bnai Moshe
and Bnai Brith, who is a leu-
kemia patient at Grace Hos-
pital.
The family and donors
have replaced 200 of the 400
pints of blood Mrs. Fishman
has already used, and she is
expected to need several
hundred more pints of
blood.
Donations can be made at
the Bnai Brith blood drive,
5-10 p.m. March 8-9 at Oak
Park's Pepper School; at
Cong. Bnai Moshe 10 a.m. to
4 p.m. March 14; or at any
Red Cross blood donor sta-
tion.

Author Vorspan Will Address
Inter-Congregational Dinner

The Inter-Congregational
Men's Club dinner will take
place 6 p.m. Tuesday at
Temple Israel.
The 43rd annual event
involving the men's clubs of
Orthodox, Conservative and
Reform congregations from
all over Metropolitan De-
troit will be hosted by the
Temple Israel Brotherhood.
Dr. Lowell J. Ressler,
past president of the Tem-
ple Israel Brotherhood, is
chairman of the evening.
Guest speaker will be
Albert Vorspan, vice pres-
ident and director of social
action for the Union of
American Hebrew Congre-
gations, the national or-
ganization of Reform Ju-
daism. Vorspan will speak
on "Caught in the Middle
— Jews in America in the
'70's."

Dr. Henry Green, presi-
dent of the Jewish Histori-
cal Society of Michigan, was
presented with the Interna-
tional Alpha Omega Dental
Fraternity's Meritorious
Award at its recent conven-
tion in Baltimore, Md. Dr.
Green is a past president of
the Detroit Chapter of Al-
pha Omega as well as a re-
gent and international trus-
tee. He also is a past
president of the Detroit Dis-
trict Dental Society.

Alvin Davis of Southfield
recently retired as assistant
to the vice president of fi-
nance for the merged Grace
and Harper Hospitals after
working 40 years at Grace.

Julius J. Harwood of
Oak Park was elected presi-
dent of the American Insti-
tute of Mining, Metallurgi-
cal and Petroleum
Engineers at the group's
105th annual meeting in Las
Vegas. Harwood is a mem-
ber of the Education Divi-
sion and National Agencies
Division of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation. He is vice
president of the United He-
brew Schools and chairman
of its education committee.
