counterpart, New China
also serves cocktails and
exotic drinks . . . We had
one called Coco Aku, with
rum and coconut milk . . .
and our companion had
Scorpion, light rum brandy
with a touch of almond.
The decor of New China is
simple . . . with booths and
tables making up the com-
fortable seating in two
rooms, one of which has a
bar in the center.
Waitress Laurie Koch put
the right words together
when she told us, "I love to
work for such wonderful
people."
CUSTOMER AT a local
bar decided it was time to
head for home, but he didn't
have his car and no one was
going his way . . . Everyone
thought he was waiting for
a cab when he walked from
the phone booth to stand by
the window . . . Wasn't the
case, though . . . Knowing
that the pizzeria next door
had delivery service, he had
called in an order of pizza to
be delivered to his house
. . . When the delivery boy
came out to get into his
truck, the ingenious corn-
munity-ite came out,
jumped in and rode home
with his pizza.
TED BURKULAS is
best remembered as the fa-
vorite waiter of many folks
during his over 10 years at
the London Chop House
. . . For the past three
months, Ted has been a ca-
terer . . . taking over at the
St. George Grecian Center
on Dix-Toledo Hwy. in
Southgate . . . A coming up
festivity will be the Greek
Night Beverly Stone is hav-
ing Ted plan for her at the
center, May 15 . . . Between
150 and 200 guys 'n gals will
attend the shindig.
TWO-WEEK engage-
ment opens for The New
Medium, beginning this
Tuesday, at the Top 0' The
Pontch_ . . displaying the
instrumental and vocal tal-
ents of its four members
. . . Singing individual
leads or blending in four-
part harmony, the New
Medium plays ballads, pop,
light rock and oldies that
have both dancing and lis-
tening appeal.

HAVE YOU HEARD

Ray Coniff's version of "I
Only Have Eyes For You"
done in the hustle beat? . . .
It's a winner.
IF YOU HAVE A very
good waitress or waiter . .
your appreciation can be
better shown on a small
check by a tip according to
the service and amount of
people served . . . The cus-
tomary 15-20 percent is
strictly a traditional thing
. . . A very good waitress or
waiter is worth much more.

AMIDST THE LOW

slung beam ceilings, brick
and dark wood walls . . .
and King Arthur sour-
roundings of quiet elegance,
we again dined with plea-
sure at Sir George's on Tele-
graph in Taylor . . . (men's
room says "Knights" and
ladies room, "Damsels")
