POST

THAT BEAUTIFUL
1958 pink Cadillac you see
around town is owned by
Jerry Gurwin of Gurwin's
Autobody Klinic . . . It's in
tip top shape and built like a
tank . . . Brings back mem-
- ories of when we had one
and got hit by another car
. . . The other car was al-
most completely demolished
. . . while our buggy just
had a slight dent in the rear
fender.
CORRECTED FOR HIS
table manners and finally
for his language at the ta-
ble, Todd Aaron Levenson,
four-year-old son of Sylvia
and Ray Levenson, contin-
ued to talk cheerfully
though unanswered to Ray,
who was using the old-fash-
ioned method of ignoring
the little gent . . . Finally,
Todd turned to Sylvia and
remarked, "Your husband
doesn't talk much, does he,
mother?"
50TH ANNIVERSARY
was celebrated on Valen-
tine's Day by Lewis and
Ann Bernstein.
A TRUE "ALL PRO-
CEEDS" fund raiser is the
showing of "Digby The Big-
gest Dog In The World" . . .
Saturday and Sunday at 1
p.m. and 3 p.m.. . . Man-
agement of the Tel-Ex Thea-
ters has donated one of
them for the matinee show-
ings . . . without any cost
whatsoever . . . Even the
printer didn't charge any-
thing for the tickets . . .
Monies will go to the City of
Hope by New Horizons
Chapter . . . Susan Lynn is
chairman of this very fine
project.
SCOTT'S KORNER
. . . "One girl to another
watching her boyfriend's
departing jalopy . . . 'I know
he's been faithful — his seat
belts never have to be ad-
justed.' "
QUICK JOKE artist
Mort \\Teisling doesn't give
folks much opportunity to
laugh with those big black
cigars he puffs away on . . .
If Lil Benkoff, ever saw him
s
coming, she u
mask out for sure.
A NEW YORK city cab
driver told us, "I got two
1, ;nris of fares. One kind is

the guy who says, is n.v .—
c.o La Guardia.' Him I don't
talk to. The other kind says,
`Please take me to La Guar-
dia.' I know I can talk to
him. Ain't it funny how that
little word makes the differ-
ence between a stuffed shirt
and a friend?"
JAY CHASEN, keesh-
ound dog handler, and com-
mander of the Eli Levin
Post, 230, Jewish War Vet-
erans, says he found an ac-
tual Jewish dog breed while
in Israel . . . It's called a
Chen Caanan and is recog-
nized by the American Ken-
nel Club.
Jay was Michigan's only
delegate to the first world
assembly of PAW, held in
Jerusalem . . . By accident,
he laid tefilin for the first

time in 40 years . . . Jay
went to the very Orthodox
Mea Shearim quarter in the
old sector of Jerusalem . .
In order to get into the area
he had to wear a yarmulke
. . . went next door to buy
one and was asked when he
last laid tefilin . . . Jay said
at 13 years of age . . . and
the man helped him . . .
When Jay returns to Israel
in November, one of the
things he'll do first is go to
the area to lay tefilin .. .
and thank the storekeeper
who gave him the yarmulke
to take home.
BIRTHDAY CON-
GRATS . . . to Ruth Klein-
man . . . a heck of a swell
gal.
DICTIONARIES ARE
bought and sold everyday
. . . yet many lack the
knowledge of many word
meanings . . . Harold Ha-
ber reminds us about the
young student who over-
heard the word pregnant
. . . He asked the teacher
what it meant, and was
promptly told, "To carry a
child." . . . "Now, suppose
you give us a sentence with
the word in it," said the
teacher . . . The youngster
gulped and answered, "The
fireman climbed a ladder
into the burning orphanage
and came down pregnant."
WHEN JOE LOUIS was
asked why he had never
been more active in civil
rights movements, he re-
plied, "Some people do it by
shouting, some march, some
give lots of money. I do it
my way — behaving."
IDEA DEPT. . . . Some-
thing your youngster won't
forget very easily after his
Or her day ... a disco Bar or

in Troy . . . And for added
embellishment, Joe Cornell
as emcee.

Columns Of Yesteryears ...
Oct. 20, 1967 . . .
"Merchants in the Livernois
Avenue of Fashion have la-
beled as unjustified the ru-
mor that they plan to move
to Southfield.
Oct. 27, 1967 ... "A lead-

ing merchant on
and Seven Mile insists that
there is absolutely no truth
to any rumor that many of
stores are mov-

ing to the suburbs . . .
caller states that most of
the merchants have no in-
terest whatsoever in moving
and are definitely staying
on Livernois."
Nov. 17, 1967 .. . "Ap-
pearing on the Anniversary
Program over Channel 7 re-
cently, Harvey and Harlene
Sosin walked away with
most of the prizes . . . Har-
lene, who is usually very
reserved and a bit on the shy
side, acted out a part of
Dilles Philler and did so
well with hubby Harvey
that Max Weinberg of
Frank's Nurseries has of-
fered to book them in a
theater in which he has an
interest . . . Location of the
theater — Tel Aviv, Israel."
