Olympic Star Robert Morrison

Robert Morrison, a social
worker with the Bloomfield
Hills Board of Education,
died Feb. 15 at age 65.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio,
Mr. Morrison lived 20 years
in Detroit. He was a mem-
ber of the National Associa-
tion for Social Workers,
National Association for
Certified Social Worlers. He
had a private practice as a
marriage counselor.

ROBERT MORRISON

Mr. Morrison was a mem-
ber of the U.S. Olympic
track and field team and
competed in javelin and dis-
cus throwing both in Berlin
in 1936 and in Los Angeles
in 1932.
He was the official rep-
resentative of the National
Jewish Welfare Board to
the U.S. Olympic Commit-
tee and was a member of
the U.S. Olympic women's
volleyball committee. He
had planned to attend the
1976 Olympics in Mon-
treal.
In 1948, he was appointed
to the Amateur Athletic
Union track and field com-
mittee, and in 1950 to the
AAU volleyball committee.

Dr. Abe Brown

Dr. Abe Arthur Brown, a
retired physician, died Feb.
13 at age 81.
Born in Rhode Island, Dr.
Brown lived 35 years in De-
troit. He was a physician
with the Veterans Adminis-
tration and worked with the
Veterans Hospital in Allen
Park. He had been retired
for the past nine years.
Dr. Brown was a member
of Temple Israel, Crescent
Shrine Club, the Sojour-
ners, Jones Post of the Jew-
ish War Veterans and the
Moslem Temple. He resided
at 20728 Knob Woods Dr.,
Southfield.

Harry Milstone, 80

Harry Milstone, retired
owner of Milstone Electric
Co., died Feb. 14 at age 80.
Born in Poland, Mr. Mil-
stone owned his company
from 1938 to 1972. He was a
member of Harry Keidan
Lodge of Bnai Brith, Cong.
Bnai David and the Stein-
metz Club for electrical con-
tractors. A Detroiter for 60
years, Mr. Milstone resided
at 25549 Lincoln Terrace,
Oak Park.
He is survived by his wife,
Lillian; a son, Leonard; a
daughter, Mrs. Esther
Schwartz; one brother in
Argentina; six grandchil-
dren and two great-grand-
children.

LOS ANGELES (JTA) —
Hanoch Givton, Israeli
Counsul General in Los
Angeles, died Feb. 14 of an
apparent heart attack at the
age of 58.
He had been admitted to
Midway Hospital suffering
from pneumonia. Mr. Giv-
ton's body was returned to
Israel for burial.
Givton had been gen-
gen-
eral-director of Israel's
eral-director
Tourism Ministry for the
previous five years. He was
the chief spokesman for the
Israeli delegation to the
United Nations, with the
rank of Minister, in 1968
and 1969. Prior to that, he
was with the Israeli Broad-
casting Service where he
headed its news department
in 1950, was promoted to
deputy director in 1956 and
named director-general in
1960.
In 1945, Mr. Givton
joined the Hebrew section
of the Palestine Broad-
casting Service and organ-
ized an underground news
service.
During the War of Inde-
pendence he served with a
Hagana unit in Jerusalem
and as press spokesman
with foreign correspondents
there.
He was a delegate to the
UN General Assembly in
1955. Born in Poland, Mr.
Givton settled in Palestine
in 1935.

Rabbi Sholom Wohlgelernter

Rabbi Sholom Pinchus
Wohlgelernter, former exec-
utive director of Yeshivath
Beth Yehudah, died Feb. 12
in New York at age 74.
A longtime Detroiter,
Rabbi Wohlgelernter was
chaplain at Wayne County
General Hsopital. He held
rabbinical posts in Chicago,
Seattle, New York, Vancou-
ver and at Cong. Mogain-
Abraham in Detroit.
During World War II,
Rabbi Wohlgelernter served
in the Vaad Hatzala, a Jew-

ish underground group, in
which he was instrumental
in saving Jews from the
Nazis.
He is survived by two
sons, Rabbi Samuel K. of
Philadelphia and Elazar of
New York City; a daughter,
Mrs. Eli (Hadassah) Romi-
nek, of Long Island, N.Y.; a
brother, Rabbi Max J. Ita-
mar of Israel; two sisters,
Clara Kaufman and Ada
Shafir, both of Israel; and
seven grandchildren. Inter-
ment Israel.
