Israel's Secret Service Scored

TEL AVIV (ZINS) — A
highly critical article on Is-
rael's intelligence service
appeared in Ma'ariv, written
by its military expert, Uri
Dan. In an unprecedented
attack, the writer charges
Israel's secret service with a
great many failures both be-
fore and during the Yom
Kippur War.
The article states that the
campaign against Arab ter-
ror has been a dismal fail-
ure. In the last nine years,
writes Dan, ever since the
Six-Day War, the record
shows only one successful
action carried out by the
secret service against Arab
terror.
That took place in April,
1973 when Israeli agents
penetrated into the center of
Beirut and liquidated three
leaders of the terrorist or-
ganization, El Fatah. On the
other hand, the secret serv-
ice had a great number of
failures even before the
Yom Kippur War, according
to Dan.

British Youth Vote
Anti-Zionism; Seek
to Cut WZO Aid I

JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
Yosef Klarman, who heads
the Aliyat Handar (Youth
Immigration) Department
of the Jewish Agency, de-
manded at a meeting of the
Executive of the World
Zionist Organization that
all subsidies be discontinued
to the Union of Jewish Stu-
dents in England.
Klarman's motion was
based on a report that at a
recent convention of this
body in England an anti-
Zionist resolution was
adopted which proclaimed,
in effect, that the "Pales-
tinian people" are entitled
to their own state, regard-
less of the actions of the
PLO. Klarman's motion
provoked a heated debate
during which the head of
the Agency's "hehalutz" de-
partment, Mordecai Bar-
On, stated that he too be-
lieves the Palestinians are
entitled to their own state.
The assembly quieted
down after Chairman Josef
Almogi gave assurances
that the issue would be
dealt with at a special meet-
ing he would call in the fu-
ture.

struck at terrorism. The
only actions were army
raids by the Air Force and
by armored units into Le-
banon. The record shows a
lack of action against ter-
ror at a time when the
Arabs had penetrated into
the center of Jerusalem
and into the Golan Heights
and had exploded bombs
resulting in the death of
many innocent civilians.
According to the author,
much of the Palestinian suc-
cess at the UN and in world
public opinion is directly
traceable to Israel's failure
to wage successful war
against terrorism. The au-
thor argues that Israel must
find new ways of combat-
ting terrorism; that its pas-
sivity is particularly dan-
gerous, taking into account
the fact that the stock of the
PLO continues to climb up-
ward.
