HOLLYWOOD — "The
Omen," the Harvey Bern-
hard/Mace Neufeld film for
Twentieth Century Fox,
starring Gregory Peck, Lee
Remick, David Warner and
Billie Whitelaw, is the latest
picture to be completed on
actual location in Jerusa-
lem, with the cameras
roaming through the Old
City and the biblical town
of Meggido in search of the
fulfillment of an ancient
prophecy.
The original screenplay is
by David Seltzer; Richard
Donner directs the contem-
porary psychological drama
interwoven with the super-
natural. An attempt is
being made to equate the
prediction in "The Book of
Revelations" of the rebirth
of the Anti-Christ, which
leads to the battle of Arma-
geddon, with the confronta-
tion between the free world
and totalitarianism today.
On the surface, however,
"The Omen" is a modern
drama; the story opens in
Rome in mid-1971 with the
American Ambassador to
the Court of St. James, por-
trayed by Gregory Peck,
waiting at the hospital for
his wife (Lee R-emick) to
have a baby. The child, a son
(Harvey Stephens), is the
heir to the diplomat's vast.
fortune. However, dark
doubts and sudden violent
death begin to chip away at
the orderly world of the
London-based ambassador.
