Menk Retires From Kahn Firm

American Institute of Ar-
chitects, has retired from
the architectural and engi-
neering firm, Albert Kahn
Associates. Among its many
buildings on which he was
project manager and the
firm's principal are the Jew-

Menk joined the firm in
1942. Prior to coming to
Detroit, he was assistant
professor of architecture
and assistant to the dean at
New York University where
he had received his under-
graduate and graduate de-
grees.
Menk was admitted to
membership in the firm in
1947. He was secretary for
one year in the early 60s and
was treasurer since 1962. In
1964 he was elected to the
board of directors and in
1969 was made vice presi-
dent.

career, Menk has been the
recipient of two distinctive
honors from the architec-
tural profession. In 1969 he
was elected to the College
of Fellows of the American
Institute of Architects, a
lifetime honor bestowed
for outstanding contribu-
tions to the. profession. In
1971 he was awarded the
Michigan Society of Archi-
tects' Gold Medal.
In addition to his affilia-
tions with the architectural
organizations, Menk is a
member of the Technion
Society, the Engineering
Society of Detroit and the
Michigan Association of the
Professions of which he is a
charter member. For many
years he has been an active
worker on the Allied Jewish
Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund, serving as as-
sistant chairman of the
Building Trades Division.

Morton Hack, president
of the Hack Shoe Co., was
recently named president-
elect of the Prescription
Footwear Association at the
group's annual meeting in
New Orleans.

His subject will be "The
Economic Outlook."
Stein was associated with

nomic Development for over

appointed to membership
on the President's Council
of Economic Advisers, be-
coming the chairman in
1972; a position he retained
until September 1974.
