ISRAEL PREMIER Yit-
zhak Rabin's recent tele-
phone experience at the Ec-
onomic Club. . . when his
snow-bound plane caused
him to carry on a scheduled
appearance via a phone
hook-up, recalls an earlier
incident.
Back in 1947, Wolf Sny-
der, then director of Far-
band Folkshule in Detroit,
set up a rally at - De-
trbit Institute of Arts, to
promote the importance of
Jewish Day Schools.. . . He
arranged for the late emi-
nent scholar and lecturer,
Hayim Greenberg, to be the
guest speaker . . . The
night before his lecture, Dr.
Greenberg called to say he
must appear at UN hearings
on partition of Palestine
. . . which' that month re-
sulted in the decision for
Jewish statehood and the
emergence of the state of Is-
rael . . . Snyder arranged
for Greenberg to address
the large, overflow gather-
ing over a telephone hookup
in which he spoke for 15
minutes . . . After the lec-
ture, some of the audience
accused Snyder of cheating
them . . . They charged him
with having made a record
of Greenberg's speech . . .
that he knew in advance the
guest speaker could not
come . . . and that the
phone talk was a fake..
SURPRISE! . . . That's
what greeted Fools Jools &
Gems gal Sema Lazar
when she "went to dinner
with an old army buddy of
hubby Alton" . . . Arrange-
ments were made by Al at
Somerset, where "the
buddy" was supposedly
staying . . . When they got
up to the floor, it was a
great big "Happy Birth-
day!" in the room where
they would be staying over-
night . . . plus a big birth-
day kiss from Alton . . .
amidst eight couples on
hand for Sema's unbelieva-
ble surprise by Al.
GOOD TO SEE THAT
Jax Kar Wash is taking over
at 10 Mile and Greenfield in
Oak Park . . . The Milan
family is just about tops
when it comes to giving a
good, proper car wash.
SPEAKING OF A whirl-
wind romance as we did last
week, must have gotten our
typing fingers all shook up
at the fast pace . . . `Twould
be much better reading if
the names aren't all mixed
up . . . so here it is properly
. . . after umteen times of
making sure:
All-around young man,
ROBERT MENDELSON,
son of MARGARET AND
HARRY MENDELSON,
went into the Lincoln Tow-
ers Beauty Salon for a man-
icure recently . . . That aft-
ernoon, he and his
manicurist, SANDRA
FELDMAN, daughter of
MINNIE AND BEN FELD-
MAN, had lunch,. . and in
the evening went to a show
. . . Two days later, after

Lodge 55, Knights of Py-
thias, March 7 at Sheraton-
Southfield Hotel, promises
to be a real humdinger . . .
Dudley Musket is the ace
party giver and chairman of
the affair.
CONGRATS . . . to Max
and Ruth Sosin of their
42nd anniversary . . . Max,
by the way, has to share an-
other seat with Ruth . . .
He had his day when Cong.
Bnai David honored him at
an Israel Bond rally . . .
Now Ruth has been named
as this year's honoree . . .
first time ever for a woman
at Bnai David . . . quite a
tribute.

FELLOW IN Southfield
came out to his car and saw
a note under the windshield
wiper, "Take a tip and don't
start your car" . . . He got
out tif the auto, walked back
into the house and called the
Southfield gendarmes . . .
They took the sign off the
windshield . . . and upon
unfolding it, discovered an
advertisement for a car-
buretor cleaner . . . He
hadn't read the other side.

SAM KATZ of American
Mailers likes the one about
the two Texans having lox
and bagels at a delicatessen
. . . Liked them so well ttey
asked about taking some
back with them to Dallas
. . asking first, "Just tell
us, which is the lox and
which is the bagels?" . . .
It's an old Myron Cohen joke
that he draws out so well
. and still goes over very
strong.

SID MALETZ walked
into an elevator which was
populated by a stunning
brunette with a youngster
who was tightly clutching
her hand . . . As the doors
closed and the car moved
down, he leaned over and
patted the child's head . . .
"Tell me, dear," he said, "did
anybody ever tell you what
a pretty little mommy you
have?"
