it will result in a backlash
of anti-Semitism.
Lilienthal got into a
dispute with several Coun-
cilmen when he accused
them of interfering in
American foreign policy.
Ward said councilmen who
spoke out were representing
their people.
Earlier, O'Dwye• told the
committee that the "one
humanitarian effort of the
UN which is worthwhile
was the establishment of
Israel." Rep. Edward Koch

El Al Seeking
Detroit Flights
NEW YORK — El Al Air-
lines is seeking new talks
early this spring between
United States and Israeli of-
ficials aimed at gaining
traffic rights to up to four
additional U.S. cities, ac-
cording to Aviation Week.
Cities to which El Al
would like to have landing
rights include Detroit, Chi-
cago, Los Angeles and one
or two East Coast cities in
addition to New York,
which it presently serves.
El Al would also like to
have rights into western
Canada only if it gets corre-
sponding rights on the U.S.
West Coast.
El Al's move is keyed _to
the U.S. government com-
pletion of its International
Aviation Policy Review,
which will be issued in a few
months.
