community use has been
installed at Cong. Beth
Achim and will be in opera-
tion by March 1.
According to synagogue
president Harry Laker Beth
Achim is the first Conserva-
tive synagogue in the United
States to have installed a
mikve in its building, "This
project," he declared, "was
undertaken at the initiative
of Rabbi Milton Arm be-
cause of the refusal of local
Orthodox rabbinic leader-
ship to permit its mikve to
be used by converts in-
structed and sponsored by
non-Orthodox rabbis."

was constructed in accord-
ance with the requirements
of Jewish law (Halakha)
under the supervision of
Rabbi Charles H. Rosenz-
veig, president and rosh
beth din of the Rabbinic
Conference of Michigan.

Rabbi Rosenzveig, a for-
mer chairman of the Ha-
lakha Commission of Yesh-
iva University, will continue
his halakhic supervisory
role in connection with
maintaining the kashrut of
the mikve in cooperation
with Rabbi Arm who will
handle requests for its use.
