The Probus Club of De-
troit, a service club com-
posed of Jewish business
and professional men, is of-
fering annual awards for ac-
ademic achievement at
Wayne State University for
the 14th consecutive year.
Two awards will be given,
each consisting of a $1,000
grant without restrictions.
One will be for a faculty
member in the natural
sciences (and related profes-
sions) and another for a rep-
resentative of the humani-
ties (including social
sciences and allied fields).
Criteria for the selection
of winners will include their
academic and professional
background and exceptional
scholastic and research
work.
Each college, school and/
or department of the univer-
sity will have an opportu-
nity to submit its nominee
to the office of D. Leonard
0. Roellig, Associate Pro-
vost, Academic Programs
and Planning, 1264 Macken-
zie Hall. Deadline for nomi-

Sholem Aleichem Institute Sets
13th Art Show at Shenandoah

The 13th annual Sholem
Aleichem Institute Art
Show will take place Feb.
6-8 at the Shenandoah
Country Club.
Visitors will be invited to
view more than 3,500 works
from 145 of Michigan's top
professional artists. The all-
media show will include
original paintings, water
colors, wood carvings, glass-
work, weaving, etchings,
stained glass work, pottery,
silk screen, ceramics, sculp-
ture, jewelry, wood cuts, ba-
tiks, macrame and photog-
raphy.

The show will be open 11
am-5 pm and 8-10 pm Feb.
6, noon until 10 p.m. Feb. 7;
and from 1 until 5 pm. Feb.
8.

Pincus Is Named
to WSW Board

With emphasis on a rea-
sonable price range, the
Sholem Aleichem Art Show
represents a broad cross-
section of racial, religious,
and cultural backgrounds.

At 8 p.m. Feb. 6, visitors
will be invited to "Sip and
Shop." The February activ-
ity will be "a happening."

The show is open to the

Max J. Pincus was elected
chairman last week of the
Wayne State University
Board of Governors.
President of Hughes and
Hatcher, Inc., Pincus re-
places George C. Edwards
III in a one-year term as
board chairman.
