Where
the old tradition
of innkeeping
goes on.
The tradition of innkeeping goes way back in
our history. The local inn or tavern was the meet-
ing place for most of the region's social and
political events. As such, people met to ex-
change news. discuss their problems, c -)nduct
business. and especially to enjoy the company
of friends.
While playing a significant part in the American
heritage. Inns have always been representative
of their time and place. Whether it be a staid
New England tavern or Wild West stagecoach
stop, visitors were assured comfort and conviv-
iality.
It is in this great tradition of a regional center
serving as a gathering place that the Somerset
Inn was established.

The New York Times re-
ports that Middle East
sources considered the ma-

Damascus-Amman coordi-
nation to establish a com-
mon front on Israel's north-
ern and eastern borders.
In addition to the com-
bined military effort there
has been coordination of
police planning and of pol-
itical positions at the
United Nations Security
Council.
The purpose of the ma-
neuver was said to be to test
joint communications and
command systems. The two
countries' police forces have
also begun to carry out an
agreement for coordinating
internal security measures,
a source said.

Violent Protest
NEW YORK (JTA) — A
broadly representative
council of Jewish organiza-
tions Sunday denounced
those responsible for the
attempted bombings last
week of the UN and the of-
fices of foreign nations in
New York City.
Bombs were found and
dismantled by police bomb
squads before they exploded
in a subway tunnel that ex-
tends under the UN library
and at the Iraqi Mission to
the UN. A pipe bomb also
exploded outside the Polish
Consulate.
The executive committee
of the National Jewish Com-
munity Relations Advisory
Council, at its quarterly
meeting, said that, while it
deemed the presence of the
"murderously terroristic
PLO" at the UN Security
Council "morally indefensi-
ble and injurious to prog-
ress toward Middle East
peace," this does not justify
violence in protest.
The national organiza-
tions that are affiliated with
the NJCRAC, and all of
which joined in the state-
ment, are the American
Jewish Congress, Bnai Brith
Anti-Defamation League,
Jewish Labor Committee,
Jewish War Veterans, Na-
tional Council of Jewish
Women, Union of American
Hebrew Congregations,
Union of Orthodox Jewish
Congregations of America
and the United Synagogue
of America.
`Arab Students
More Cohesive
TEL AVIV (ZINS) —
Levy Izhak Yerushalmi
comments in Maariv on an
increasing "Palestinian"
consciousness among Israeli
Arab students and writes:
"There is today no univer-
sity in Israel without Arab
students — even including
Bar-Ilan. The overall num-
ber of Arab students is 1,-
600.
"The Arab students are
more cohesive than ever be-
fore, and that their position
is closer to the fundamenU.1-
Palestinian line. On the
other hand, many of the
Jewish students are indif-
ferent, and those who have
opinions do not agree among
themselves."
