POST
BACK FROM COCOA
BEACH, Fla. . . . and wish
we could say how wonderful
the weather was . .. Ar-
rived in Orlando on a beauti-
ful Delta flight . . . picked
up at the airport by Sammy
Woolf . . . Good thing we
had a coat with us — 'twas
a bit chilly . . . Understand
it had been cold and cloudy
everyday . . . but not this
bad . . . Finally, after five
days of a peek-a-bOo sun
mingled with windy chills,
the new year started out
with the first gorgeous day
we had seen . . . and lasted
until the day before we left
on Jan. 4 . . . Quite a differ-
ence from last year, when
we were sunburned the first
day we got there . . . Talked
to Molly Fuerst (Leo) and
Ann and Buddy Jacobson
among the former Detroit-
ers living in Cocoi Beach.
, BROUGHT IN THE
New Year at Sammy and
Ann Woolf's condominium
over a pizza from Alma's,
some good hot dog sand-
wiches and the Broadway
ball descending slowly to
the music of Guy. Lom-
bardo.
SOME 1976 WISHES
. . . THAT nice guy Mel
Farr, former Detroit Lion
football star, scores a lot of
points of success with John
Cook at their new Ford deal-
ership on Greenfield and 10
Mile . . . THAT gas stations
start wiping windshields
again . . . THAT car wash
spots check the ash trays
and also see that water isn't
dripping outside around the
body . . . THAT some driv-
ers out on the street are
forced to take driver train-
ing courses again . . .
THAT Bernard Mond has
a good year as chancellor
commander of Detroit
Lodge 55, Knights of Py-
thias . . . same for Barry
Klein, worshipful master of
Perfection Lodge . . . and
Max Sosin, new president of
Detroit Businessmen's-
Group, City of Hope . .
THAT Paul Zuckerman
grows a suave mustache
. . . THAT Herschel Lewis
reactivates Social Inc. . .
THAT Alice Kirschner finds
the right style hairdo . . .
THAT Marty Weinstock
shaves off his goatee so folks
can see what lurks behind
all that facial foliage . . .
THAT electrician Bernie
Steinberg makek wife
Yvonne happy and either
fixes the front door bell at
their home or calls in some-
body to do it . . . THAT
somebody tells the Atlantis
in Cocoa Beach how terrible
their coffee is . . . THAT
some people who have got-
ten up there dollar-wise
take a looksee back to yes-
teryear and remember the
folks who helped them . . .
THAT somebody, tells the
person in Oak Park Center
how strange Florida license
plates look here in sub-zero
weather . . . THAT the per-
son or persons who built a
snowman atop a Southfield
.
police car while it was
parked at a local eatery get
some kind of an award for
quick hands.
THANKS HEAPS .. .
to Hy Lewis for filling in on
both columns while we were
vacationing in Florida .. .
As usual, Hy did another
very fine job.
COULDN'T RECOG-
NIZE Aaron Kerbis, now
living in California . . . The
former Detroiter had re-
cently returned from Eu-
rope and is 265 pounds ligh-
ter . . . Aaron now weighs
235 and looks great.
FESTIVITIES FOR out-
going chancellor com-
mander Bill Rothman and
incoming C.C. Bernie Mond,
of Detroit Lodge 55,
Knights of Pythias, was
done with a flurry of freshly
grated potato latkes_. . .
(nobody counted how many
Milt Huber ate) .. . It was
also Bill's 86th birthday.
SID AND RHODA
KATZMAN met a man on
an elevator while visiting
recently in Israel . .. Gent
said he was going to visit in
Windsor and asked if they
knew anybody there . . .
Turned out that he had been
told by someone else when
arriving in Windsor to look
up somebody . . . by the
name of Sid Katzman . . .
the same one he met on the
elevator! . . . Another quirk
was on the plane Sid and
Rhoda took to Israel . .
Pilot's name was Mark
Weitz . . . their cousin here
in Detroit.
RUTH WEISS GOT the
shock of her life Jan. 3 when
she returned home and was
greeted by hubby, Harold,
children Susie and Dr. and
Mrs. Allan Weiss for the
first surprise party of her
life . . . And what a way to
greet guests who gathered
for the celebration . . .
Ruth speaking through the
mail slot calling Harold a
cheapskate for having the
house so dark . . . More
than 125 relatives and good
friends 'gathered and Ruth
still can't figure out how
this secret was kept in the
weeks of planning . . . In
fact, she went shopping ov-
ertime because Harold told
her not to hurry home, there
was another football game
on . . . and Ruth is still not
over all the noise of New
Year's Day games.
THANKS TO . . . Eliza-
beth Dunite . . . for the
wonderful and extremely
kind words . . . We would
be most honored to have you
head a fan club . , . 13021
Dartmouth, Oak Park is Eli-
zabeth's address.
HELLO . . . from Sid
Hudson in Las Vegas . . .
Sid expects to be in Detroit
in about two or three weeks.
