Editor, The Jewish News:
The case by the American
Jewish Congress filed in a
Washington, D.C. court ver-
sus Dr. Kissinger, et. al, to
ban the apparent acquiesc-
ence by our government in
the discrimination against
American Jews as regards
the personnel engaged in
the American official enter-
prises in Saudi Arabia pre-
sents food for thought.
Obviously, as the Yiddish
saying has it, der hunt is
vert dem floken, the dog is
deserving of the thrashing,
but the choice of the stick
and the timing.is another
matter. This action should
have been undertaken by an
appropriate committee of
the U.S. Congress, not by
the AJCongress. .

task of resolving the M.E.
stalemate. The primary
objective of the American
Jewish community should
be the integrity and secu-
rity of Israel . . . even our
sense of outrage at the
conduct of certain agen-
cies of our government
must yield to that objec-
tive.
We should abide by the
developments of Dr. Kissin-
ger's efforts for a fuller as-
sessment of his 'achieve-
ments to bring peace in the
area. The course of the
AJCongress may conceiva-
bly elicit the reflection lest
we be charged with rocking
the boat.

Israelis Attribute
High Traffic Toll
to Decrepit Autos

TEL AVIV — A new
study by the Road Safety
Center of the Institute of
Technology in Haifa reveals
the main reason for Israel's
high auto accident rate, one
of the highest in the world.
The study shows that
nearly half the cars involved
in accidents had mechanical
failures, and few Israelis
can afford to keep their cars
in working order.
The police said that in
1974 there were 14,850 acci-
dents involving death or in-.
jury. Israel has 421,000 cars
among its 3.5 million people.
Moshe Shahal, a member .
of Parliament, has began a
campaign to reduce the
price of spare ,parts in the
hopes that drivers will keep
cars in better condition. A
clutch disc that costs $7.50
in West Germany costs $39
in Israel, he said, and an en-
gine block costing $45 in
Bonn is $235, or an average -
month's pay.

Josephine Wolf, widow of
wholesale grocery magnate,
Abner Wolf, has dedicated a
nursery and kindergarten
wing at Yeshivath Beth Ye-
huda in honor of her late
husband.
. Mr. Wolf, who started out -
in the grocery business by
manning a broom in his
father's store, became a
leader in the wholesale gro-
cery business as head of Al-
lied Supermarkets, Inc., a
Detroit-based grocery chain

Volunteers who speak
Russian and Yiddish and
persons with automobiles to
help transport Russian im-
migrantg are sought by the
Resettlement Service.
According to Dr. Max
Winslow, president of Re-
settlement Service, volun-
teers are needed to drive the
immigrants to appoint-
ments, shopping, register
their children in school and
help them apply for jobs.
Samuel Lerner, executive
director of Resettlement
Service and Jewish Family
Service, said the need for
volunteers is great since a 25
percent increase in immi-
grant settlement in Detroit
is expected this year. To
date, 136 refugee families
have been settled here by
the Resettlement Service.
