JERUSALEM — The Is-
rael newspaper Maariv ran
a front-page story Dec. 25
which stated that Sheik
Ahmed Yamani may be a
Jew converted to the Islamic
faith.
According to Maariv, the
Saudi Arabian oil minister's
mother, sister and brothers,
living in Kiryat Ekron and
Kfar Gvirol near Rehovot,
stated that Yamani decided
to change religions in order
to accept an "important po-
sition" in the court of the

Argentina Jewish
Writers Threatened

NEW YORK (JTA) The
Buenos Aires daily La
Opinion said that unknown
individuals forcibly entered
the home of journalist En-
rique Raab recently.
Because Raab had re-
ceived a threat against his
life in late November, nei-
ther he nor his family were
living in the apartment at
the time.
The threat, sent anony-
mously to Raab and two
other journalists who write
for La Opinion, Ernesto
Ekaizer and Heriberto
Kahn, said "Jew-Russian-
Communist. You are dead.
AAA. Isabel or death!"
AAA is the notorious right-
wing death squad responsi-
ble for hundreds of execu-
tions in Argentina during
the past year.
In speaking to the press,
Raab noted that the attack
on his apartment came after
he published an interview
with the federal judge who
is investigating administra-
tive irregularities pertain-
ing to the. president's han-
dling of financial matters.

thing you lack seems big to
you. (Berachoth 34.)

SHEIK YAMANI

Saudi Arabian king.
On Dec. 26, however, the
Jerusalem Post stated that
the woman claiming to be
Yamani's sister said that
she identified her "long-lost
brother" from a photo-
graph. She said she based
her relationship to Yamani
on circumstances of his de-
parture from the family and
from "facial resemblance."
According to the
woman, Yamani, born
Yihye Zacharia, but called
Zaki by his family, was
approached at age 16 by
associates of the Saudi
king and convinced to join
his court.
The family immigrated to
Israel via Yemen in 1951.
Meanwhile, reports from
Beirut on Monday said that
Yamani made a deal with
the Algerian government
for the release of all terror-
ists held captive as a conces-
sion for them to refrain
from assassinating him.
The Algerian government
released the terrorists as a
result of Yamani's deal with
them.

NAZARETH — A group
of residents in Upper Naza-
reth have declared they
want an end to economic
links with the old Arab
town where Rakah (the New
Communist List) won a
sweeping victory recently in
the municipal elections.

An ad hoc committee
formed in -Upper Nazareth
said it organized a demon-
stration to demand eco-
nomic independence for the
new Jewish .town.

The committee wants a
separate food market and a
new bus service, indepen-
dent of the Arab bus com-
pany which now serves both
towns.

Moshe Allon, spokesman
for the committee, told
newsmen: "We do not want
