Camp for Disabled Seeks Applicants

CHICAGO — Camp Ra-
mah in Wisconsin has an-
nounced the opening of en-
rollment for the Tikvah
Program for children with
learning disabilities for the
1976 camp season.
Tikvah is designed to of-
fer youngsters age 13-18
with learning disabilities a
Jewish educational experi-
ence in a camp setting. The
program is jointly spon-
sored by the United Syn-
agogue Commission on Jew-

ish Education and the
National Ramah Commis-
sion.
The director of the Tikvah
program will be Mrs. Gila
Vogel, a teacher of classes
for neurologically impaired
and learning disabled chil-
dren in the New York City
Public Schools.

Lawyers to Meet

RABBI FRIEDMAN

Detroit area attorneys
will attend their annual
luncheon for the Allied Jew-
ish Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund 11:45 a.m. Jan.
15 at Cong. Bnai David.
Guest speaker will be
Rabbi Herbert A. Fried-
man, the former executive
vice chairman of the United
Jewish Appeal.
Known as the "dean of
UJA speakers," Friedman is
an authority on Jewish over-
seas needs and the problems
facing Israel's refugees and
im migrants.
The rabbi was instru-
mental in the formation of
the Israel Emergency
Fund in 1967. He served as
a chaplain in Germany
during World War II and
is a graduate of Yale and
the Hebrew Union Col-
lege-Jewish Institute of
Religion.
The afternoon meeting
will be hosted by attorneys
Milton J. Miller and Lester
S. Smith.

Southfield Library

Sets Registration
for 'Story Hour'

The Southfield Public Li-
brary will hold registration
for the winter pre-school
story hour "A-hunting We
will Go" 9:30 a.m. Monday
for Friends of the Library.
Registration for the general
public begins noon.
The story-hour theme is
taken from John Langs-
taff's rendition of the song
"A-hunting We will Go." A
varied format of books, pup-
pets, songs and creative
dramatics will enliven the
program.
The story-hour series is
open to children ages 3-5.
Sessions at the Southfield
Library will be held 10:45
a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednes-
days' and 10:45 a.m. Thurs-
days. A session will also be
held 1:45 p.m. Thursdays at
the Beech Woods Reading
Center. A special story hour
for 5-year-olds only will be
conducted 10:45 a.m. Tues-
days.
All story hours will begin
the week of Jan. 13 and end
Feb. 19. For information,
