It is both morally and le-

In addition to the four
Cabinet members, the suit
also lists as.defendants Ger-

Secretary of the Treasury,
and Daniel Parker, Admin-
istrator of the Agency for

NEW YORK — The U.S.-
Israel Advisory Council on
Research and Development,
which consists of leading
American Research and de-
velopment executives, scien-
tists and engineers, is in Is-
rael to meet with its Israeli
counterparts in an effort to
promote closer links be-
tween the U.S. and Israel in
the fields of science and
technology.
This bi-n-ational council,
formed in May 1975, results
from the "Joint Statement".
issued by U.S. Secretary of
the Treasury William E.
Simon and Israel Minister
of Finance Yehoshua Rabi-_
nowitz, which called for fur-
- ther cooperation between
the two nations in the areas
of trade and investment.
Israel officials also an-
nounced that the existing
50 percent grant for re-
search and development. of
new products will, in some
cases, be raised to as high as
85 percent, where the prod-
uct promises to•be of signifi-,
'cant benefit to Is-rael's econ-
omy.
Many U.S. companies
have located their technolo-
gy-intensive divisions in Is-
rael, and have been able to
take advantage of the Israel
government grant for re-
search and development. At
present there are 53 high-
technology manufacturing
subsidiaries of U.S. compa-
nies based in Israel.
American companies are
attracted to Israel for its
high level of technical com-
petence, lower price on the
end product and better con-
ditions than the Common
Market.

Mt. Sinai School of Medicine
whose non-science interests
include teaching the Yiddish
language, is teaching the
first' course in the language
at Stern College for Women
of Yeshiva University.
"The words have a life, a
history in them," said Dr.
_Chava Lapin, a native Yid-
dish speaker who has been
teaching the language on
the college level for three
years.
