Recent dinner for incoming and outgoing offi- cers of Businessmen's Asso- ciation of Metropolitan De- troit's Chinese Community was unique . . . it had no speeches . . . and dinner started after 11 p.m.. . . at Forbidden City in the Se- ville Hotel on Cass . . . Our table, included Henry Yee, Al Silver, and Shirley Singer, with Police Com- mander Henry Majeski the only one not using chop sticks . . . Lots of food brought to the tables . . . not an overly pretentious dinner for the more than 70 people . . . but with sc. many Chinese restaura- teurs, exotic food wouldn't have been their kind of meal . . . Instead, they no doubt appreciated a good whole- some dinner their style . . . We started out with Hong Kong Won Ton Soup, and then came the parade . . . Szechuan chicken, fried shrimp, lobster Cantonese, sesame shrimp, Alaskan king crab meat with Chinese broccoli, cut up pieces of squab browned in peanut oil, abalone, stuffed oyster, duck stuffed with dehydrated fruits and nuts and cut up oranges . . . After the meal was over, everybody got up and left as quietly as they had come in. PAUL DONNELLY, counter man at Benny's Sabra in Oak Park, makes it a pleasure for wife Joyce to serve the eggs he makes . . . The other waitresses, too . . . He's One of the reasons Benny's is going through so many cartons each week . . . At home, also, Paul does all the cooking and Joyce serves it . . . If they find it hard smiling the morning of New Year's Day, don't pay any mind . . . Benny's will be open and Joyce and Paul might have rung in the New Year kind of late.
