THE 'DETROIT liEWISH NEWS Ex-Detroiter Asks for Greater Aliya Former Detroit Chaim "Larry" Forst, who has gone on aliya to Israel with his wife, expresses concern for the Jewish state's future, in an urgent message ad- dressed to the Jewishcom- munity of Detroit. In his let- ter to The Jewish News, Forst makes a plea for aliya, for American Jews to assist in assuring Israel's security. His message reads in part:. "We need people here. We need trained people, college- educated people, Jewish .people like yotirselves with h _ igh American efficiency tandards, with developed political thoughts, with the desire to build, and the de- sire to "raise Jewish children in a Jewish state with a real Jewish education. . "You can make aliya. There are thousands, liter- ally thousands of former Americans living in Israel. Each one will tell you how tough it was and still is. But since when was being Jew- ish easy? .. . "Each one is doing an en- ormous amount of good for his people, for the Jewish homeland, for the continu- ance of our nation, for the sake of his children.
