Flint Jews Urged, `Buy_lsraeli

Flint-area residents were
urged to "buy Israel" to help
keep that country's econ-
omy alive.
Speaking to the opening-
night program of the Flint
Jewish Community Coun-
cil's Freedom Weekend last
week, Ze'evSher, Israel Eco-
nomic minister to the U.S.
and Canada, appealed to
Americans to "look for Is-
raeli goods. Try to buy
them. Bring your friends to
Israel to see what you can
do, and help us to fight the
enemy, the Arab boycott."
Sher said pressure by
Americans can help keep.
businessmen and industry
from shying away . from in-
vestment in Israel.

Meanwhile, Dr. William
Korey, head of the Bnai
Brith United Nations of-
fice, told participants in

rally to take action against
Israel's opponents in the
UN. He suggested the U.S.
re-evaluate its allocations
to the UN, and that travel-
ers abroad be wary of
going to countries who
voted in favor of-the UN
General Assembly resolu-
tion equating Zionism
with racism.

During the rally, held on
behalf of oppressed Jews
and in opposition to the
Zionism resolution, teenag-

they raised $3,000.

Dream of Herzl-
`Freedom of Blacks'

TEL AVIV (SINS) —. The
Israeli newspaper Al Ham-
ishmar reports that Dr.
Theodor Herzl, the founder
of political Zionism, wrote
in his diary that after solv-
ing the Jewish problem he
would dedicate his energy
"to resolving the problem of
the negro in Africa."

Today, three quarters of a
century later, the Al Ham-
ishmar bemoans the fact
that the negroes of Africa
control their destiny and
rule over dozens of countries
which today besmirch
Herzl's Zionism — from
which these African coun-
tries have benefited so
much.

NEW YORK (ZINS) —
Alexander Solzhenitsyn ex-
pressed himself sharply
against Dr. Henry Kissin-
ger's policy of detente with
Soviet Russia and ques-
tioned Kissinger's qualifica-
tions as a diplomat.
In his caustic remarks
Solzhenitsyn condemned
U.S. pressure on Israel and
Kissinger's political policy
in the Middle East.
In the New York Times,
Solzhenitsyn was outspoken
on what he called America's
indecisive position in the
Middle East conflict com-
paring it with the situation
in Vietnam where U.S. ca-
pitulation was more evident.
Solzhenitsyn concludes
that the defeat in the Viet-
nam War and the loss of
Indochina to Communist
occupation can be "at-
tributed" to Kissinger's pol-
itical policy.
