December 19, 1975 25 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Fine Italian-American Cuisine Restaurant & Pizzeria LISTENING POST HAPPY 90TH BIRTH- DAY congrats . . . to Sara Horenstein . . . former De- troiter living in Sacramento, . . . Sara walks about 10 blocks twice a week to do her shopping, continues to work on rummage sales by the City of Hope and still kallifolks loud enough to blister 1,111re telephone wires . . . She calls son Max here often, and recently told of her sen- ior citizens group going to Reno . . . Sara got up on the bus and collected money from everyone for the driv- er's tip . . . When they got to Rena, a representative of Harrah's Club gave every- one money for the slot ma- chine and a token . . . Sara has never changed, always remembering the lean years of yesterdays . . . As she told Max over the phone, "I took the money home and had enough to go shopping with." . . . Asked what she did with the token, Sara replied, "What else? I went into the bar and had a drink . . ." Another son, Sam, has a deli in Sacramento (Hy is here, Lou in San Diego and Charlie is deceased) . . . Sara can't read or write, lives alone and likes it . . . She always was quite a woman . . . and still is. DR. It had been trans- formed from a justice of the peace to a municipal court . . . About 80 people were present at Town & Country recently as Myra was given a retirement party from District Court 45 B . . . She is the first court adminis- trator to be retired in the 11-year existence of the Michigan Association for Court Administration . . Raising her glass at the party, Myra proposed 'the toast, "Here's to better jus- tice," and former county osecutor Tom Plunkett marked, "And here's to your contribution to it." . . . Myra didn't receive a pretty watch or something to hang on her mantle . . . although Rep. Joe Forbes sent a state resolution and the City of Oak Park gave her a key and paper weight . . . She was given what she's wanted for a long time, a tape recorder with oodles of cassettes with which to record her mem- oirs. CONGRATS TO . . .
